When Compassion Speaks

Learning the language of the soul begins with recognizing that the Lord speaks in ways far deeper than words. His voice often rises through the stirrings within your spirit — those moments when something touches you so profoundly that you cannot ignore it. These signals are not the surface emotions of daily life; they come from the quiet center of your soul where God’s presence dwells.
Compassion is one of the clearest of these signals. It is a gift woven into certain souls by God Himself — an ability to see pain quickly, respond instinctively, and move toward need without hesitation. Some people carry this sensitivity in a way that reveals His heart. And sometimes, God shows this same gift through His creatures. Dogs, especially, have a remarkable ability to sense emotion and offer comfort without judgment or expectation. Their loyalty and presence mirror the compassion God desires for each of us.
The Lord often uses others — people and animals alike — to deliver His message. These moments may seem random, but they are anything but accidental. When you learn the language of the soul, you begin to notice the encounters, the conversations, and the unexpected connections that God places in your path. Each one is meant to shape your gift and prepare you for the calling He has placed upon your life.
One such moment came through Molly, a service dog whose unexpected reaction to my wife revealed a compassion so pure and unmistakably divine that it touched everyone who witnessed it. God’s message that day was simple: He is present, and He knows exactly when your soul needs His touch.
As you walk through your own wilderness seasons, may you learn to listen for these signals — through Scripture, through others, through compassion, and through the quiet stirrings within your soul. God is always speaking. Be still. Listen. And let Him lead you into the calling He has prepared for your life.
Amen.
