The Only Voice That Matters

Occasionally our faith comes under quiet attack from the evil one, most often through self‑doubt. This morning my soul is whispering, stay strong. Continue your walk with God in His Ways and resist the subtle forces that try to pull you away from His voice. When the Spirit is active, the devil often responds by stirring uncertainty about what God has already spoken.

Sometimes that doubt rises from within. Other times it comes through people—often well‑meaning—who question your understanding or challenge your faith. What makes this difficult is that the seed of doubt can come from those we hold in spiritual authority: clergy, church elders, biblical scholars, even writers like me who teach from Scripture. Most have no idea their words can create an internal struggle. They simply share what they believe.

Earlier tonight I read a Facebook post asking, “What do you believe this scripture is saying?” On the surface it was harmless. But the way it was framed felt like a test, as if answering “incorrectly” meant you were not aligned with God. That stirred something in me, and I wondered whether the author realized how easily such a question can plant self‑doubt.

I share this not to criticize anyone who teaches or posts online. Many sincerely want to help others grow closer to God. Instead, I offer this as encouragement for those moments when something you hear—even from someone in authority—causes your spirit to hesitate. When you feel that flicker of uncertainty, hit the pause button. Remember the Scripture: “Be still, and know that I am.”

God speaks to each of us in a way that is personal and intimate. Others may offer guidance, but they cannot hear what He is whispering to you in the quiet places. So when doubt tries to settle in—through a comment, a question, or someone’s opinion of scripture —let it be a signal to return to Him. His voice does not confuse.

The world may offer many interpretations, and opinions about Scripture. But God’s voice is the only one that truly matters. When someone’s words begin to pull you into uncertainty, return to the One who speaks directly to your soul.

Hold fast to Him. Trust the voice that has carried you this far. Let His presence calm you when questions feel like storms. Your faith is not measured by how well you match someone else’s interpretation — it is measured by how faithful you are to Him, to His Way, and to the calling He has placed on your life.
