THE CALLING & FAITHFUL OBEDIENCE

Each of us has been called by God to live a life shaped by His ways — how to worship, how to pray, how to listen, and how to walk in His commandments. But Scripture also speaks of another calling: the call to serve. Before you took your first breath, the Lord prepared you for this life with a gift and a purpose — a calling to serve Him and your neighbor.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I set you apart.”   — Jeremiah 1:5

“We are His workmanship… created for good works prepared in advance.”   — Ephesians 2:10

“Each person should use the gift they have received to serve others.”   — 1 Peter 4:10

The calling within you does not leave. It remains deep in your soul, waiting to be recognized. The Lord is patient. He will not leave your side, and He will guide you through the discernment — the discovery — of your gift, if you will ask and listen.

“God leads you in the wilderness to reveal what is in your heart.”   — Deuteronomy 8:2

The wilderness is a season spoken of throughout Scripture. It is a time God uses for reflection, learning, clarity, and the shaping of your soul. Jesus spent forty days in the wilderness; Moses spent forty years. Your time is unique to you. The length of your wilderness is unknown, but Scripture tells us that signs of this season will rise within your spirit.

“The Spirit searches the deep things of God.”   — 1 Corinthians 2:10

There are moments when your soul reveals something to you — moments marked by an intensity of emotion that rises suddenly and unmistakably. This is the language of the soul. These inner stirrings come in many forms and often when you least expect them.

Perhaps you overheard someone grieving, and something within you urged you to comfort them. Perhaps you were driving, looked toward the heavens, and felt a warm sensation wash over you — a quiet inspiration that lingered. These moments are not random. They are signals of your calling. Listen to what your emotions are saying; they will help you discern the gift God placed within you.

As you become attuned to the language of your soul, your walk in His Way begins.

Your obedience to God — your willingness to fulfill His calling — brings clarity and peace. Your days take on an easiness you didn’t know was possible. Your spirit calms. Your purpose sharpens. Walking with Him in His Ways becomes your destiny, and serving Him becomes an obedience you welcome with joy.

“My teaching is not mine, but His who sent me… If anyone’s will is to do His will…”   — John 7:14–18

Jesus teaches us that to walk in our calling is to honor and glorify God. We speak with His authority, not from any other source of learning or study. So if anyone doubts what the Lord is calling them to do, let them rest in this truth: God has already prepared you with the knowledge and skills needed to accomplish what He has asked of you. His authority is enough.

I pray this reflection brings clarity and reassurance to all who are seeking direction in their walk with God. May He bless you and bring peace and clarity to your calling. Amen.
