God Is Calling You

 For most of my life, I believed the Bible was a book to be studied — a collection of stories, teachings, and commandments meant to guide a person of faith. Over time, I’ve come to understand something far more personal. Scripture is the record of God calling His people back to Himself, and this call appears in every book of the Bible. It is not simply literature. It is a conversation. God speaks to us through our soul and through others. His message has never changed: Return to Him. Walk in His Ways. Listen.

As we reviewed the first books of the Bible through 2 Samuel, the message is unmistakable — return and follow God. And while we have not chronicled the rest of Scripture, the same thread continues through every book, all the way to Revelation. The clarity of this pattern cannot be overstated.

Returning to Him and following in His Way requires that we first learn to listen — not with our minds, but with our souls. The clarity of the Bible being written by God, and the evidence that supports this, is not a new revelation. This knowledge has been present since the beginning. Yet it is common to live an entire life without ever hearing from your soul. Free will makes it easy to listen only to what your mind tells you.

Let me take this a step further for those who use a common‑sense thread — the one that says, “If A is true, then B must be….” Consider free will. God has given each of us this all‑inclusive power to override Him. Free will allows you to listen to your mind instead of Him, who speaks through your soul. He did this so that if and when you return to Him it is by your choice, not His. Our Lord is fully capable of directing our actions, but the communion He desired from the beginning — starting with Adam and Eve — was for mankind to choose Him, not be forced into a relationship.

The Lord gave mankind free will and the intelligence to make informed decisions, ask yourself why? If God had directed the outcome either by Himself or through others, that He is real? Wouldn’t that revelation take away your free will? Wouldn’t it replace faith? Wouldn’t it remove your ability to choose your path? God does not want forced compliance. He desires a relationship with you based on your choice.

To choose to return to God and follow in His Ways, we must learn to recognize the language of our soul over the noise of our mind. The language of the soul begins with the voice. There is a voice within you that does not come from your thoughts. It arrives quietly, without pressure or argument. It shows up in moments when your mind settles and your spirit is open. This voice is not imagination. It is not self‑talk. It is the Lord speaking through your spirit.

Scripture has always been said to be written with divine intervention. Every author, editor, and scribe — across centuries, languages, and cultures — wrote under the direction of God. Those who selected which books would be preserved and translated into English were also guided by the Holy Spirit. This belief has always rested on faith.

But what Scripture reveals is evidence that only God could have orchestrated the writing of the Bible. He wrote about Jesus and His resurrection long before it occurred. He inspired the authors of Genesis through Samuel to write about events that would unfold thousands of years later. There is only one conclusion: God alone wrote the Bible.
