Be Still and Receive — What the Wilderness Teaches the Soul

Every wilderness season has a purpose. It may not look like mine. It may not last fourteen years. It may not involve the Church, a calling, or a sudden silence. But every wilderness shares the same truth: God uses it to shape the soul for what comes next.

Scripture shows us that God calls His people back to Himself from the very beginning. After the fall, His first words to humanity were not anger but invitation: “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9). Even in failure, God calls.

We see this again in Exodus, where God speaks to His people with a promise: “If you will listen to My voice and follow My ways…” — Exodus 19:5 This is not a burden. It is a relationship. It is God saying, Walk with Me. Let My presence lead you.

And He leads us into the wilderness — not to punish us, but to prepare us.

My own wilderness lasted fourteen years. It was a season of silence, confusion, and waiting. A season where everything familiar fell away. A season where I thought God had stopped speaking.

But He hadn’t.

He was shaping my soul. He was preparing my gift. He was aligning my future.

And in that quiet place, He began to reveal truths I now share with you:

1. A calling does not disappear just because circumstances change.   What God places in your soul remains, even when life shuts every door.

2. God often speaks the loudest in the silence.   Stillness is not absence — it is preparation.

3. The wilderness is not punishment; it is refinement.   God removes what cannot go with you into the next season.

4. God aligns people and moments long before you see the purpose.   Nothing is accidental. Every connection is part of His design.

5. Inspiration is often the first sign that the wilderness is ending.   When the Holy Spirit moves, the path begins to open.

6. Your gift will reveal itself when your soul is ready to carry it.   God awakens what He placed within you long before you were born.

7. God will confirm what He has placed in you.   Through Scripture, through people, through circumstances — He affirms His work.

8. The wilderness ends when God says it ends.   Not when you feel ready. When He has finished shaping your heart.

If you are in a quiet season — a season of confusion, waiting, or wondering — I want you to know this:

God is doing more in your wilderness than you can see. He is shaping your soul. He is preparing your gift. He is aligning your future. He is teaching you to hear Him in the stillness.

Be still. And receive what He is giving you in this season.
